In 2016, 193 acceleration programmes in Europe invested 47,575,976 euros, an amount shared among 3,701 startups. These are some of the results delivered by the European Accelerator Report 2016, a report produced by gust, a global Software as a Service (SaaS) financing platform which has updated the data from its previous report on 2015.

The goal of the study is to provide an exclusive vision of the different acceleration programmes on this continent, with the aim of demonstrating how the accelerator sector has evolved, how accelerators support startups and their impact on local and national ecosystems. The report does not go into an analysis of other organisations related to entrepreneurship, such as incubators and venture builders, but focuses exclusively on accelerators. The data used to draw up the report were requested from the accelerators themselves.

The information of interest shown includes the role of Spanish accelerators in relation to the general European situation. Thus, according to the report and based on total amount invested, Spain is in second place (€7,458,380), only behind the United Kingdom (€15,566,629) and ahead of countries such as Germany (€6,431,085) and Italy (€2,780,000). By number of startups accelerated per country during the past year, Spain also made the Top 10; it was in third place, to be precise, with 428 startups, only behind the United Kingdom (992) and France (612).In 2016, 193 acceleration programmes in Europe invested 47,575,976 euros, an amount shared among 3,701 startups. These are some of the results delivered by the European Accelerator Report 2016, a report produced by gust, a global Software as a Service (SaaS) financing platform which has updated the data from its previous report on 2015.

The report analyses many more variables (it can be seen in full by clicking HERE), and in the case of the 10 leading European seed accelerators (based on capital invested) it highlights the fourth place held by Wayra (€2,410,000), behind Techstars, Impact and 500 Startups, and ahead of other accelerators such as Collider, Accelerace and Startupbootcamp.
